Unlike your government elections, here…

YOUR VOTE MATTERS!

Let’s start with how I categorise cars… Over the years I’ve tried several ways to sort them by styles and all, and it all will likely end here. It’s not a perfect system, but it’s best I could think of – an evolution of all I’ve been through.

It takes of 3 categories: by year – which is pretty self explanatory – and the easiest for that matter. Every car is grouped by year of production (unless one which never left the concept stage) and only START of production. Not the prototyping stage or end of production – just the start, where we could see the first examples in dealerships.

Second group is the ERA of motor history, which I split into 7 periods. I know it’s a very subjective distinction and those moments in time are overlapping, the names are often more or less synonymous… but I think they convey the message within them, and that overlapping is also symbolic, because some cars from late classic era / early retro are hard to determine whether more classic or retro.

Last denomination goes by purpose or segment on the market. Very generalistic classes such as Premium, Sport, Super or Street – refer to more luxurious, any sports cars, supercars or street racers. Rally type includes most Motorsport machines – not necessarily rally cars, but also touring and GT. Just like GP groups prewar racers as much as F1 bolides. Then, we go to the car’s place in history. Motorsport articles go in Motorsport category, following that: rally cars end up in Rally subcategory. More significant manufacturers like Porsche, Ferrari or Lamborghini – articles on those cars will be grouped in „Marque” category, which tells the whole story of those brands. Those that can’t be categorised in any other way – but are no less interesting – end up as „Legends”. Now get this: all cars can have up to 4 most appropriate types to them 2 of each.

Confusing, isn’t it? Only at first. It is hard to get used to, and I might not be the best at explaining, but I promise – when you learn those, it’s very simple and actually very intuitive. It will be best to show you an example, right?

Lamborghini Diablo [1990] – RETRO – Sport / Super – Marque (Lamborghini) / Legend (Supercar)

Now when you know how I sort the cars for future articles… I’ve grouped them by decade for you to choose. You can vote for those you would wish to see first, and based on your opinions, I will move them up in their priority. I know it seems a lot at the moment, but that’s because many of them need their priority defined. Later, votes will shrink in number and gain more focus.
